“The Reagans possess an incredible bond with audiences literally everywhere and on every platform,” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment, when she announced the series’ pickup. “In its 12th season, Blue Bloods not only continues to dominate in the ratings but excels at an exceptionally high creative level. Led by the incomparable Tom Selleck, this amazing cast skillfully brings universal and relatable personal storylines to life week after week, while executive producer Kevin Wade and the skilled writing team craft compelling episodes featuring the show’s trademark mix of family dynamics and police work. We look forward to many more Reagan family dinners next season.” Here is what we know about season 13 so far:

Also expected to return are Frank Reagan’s staff, including Det. Abigail Baker (Abigail Hawk), Deputy Commissioner of Public Information Garrett Moore (Gregory Jbara), and Lt. Sidney Gormley (Robert Clohessy). Over in the D.A.’s office, we should see the return of DA Investigator Anthony Abetemarco (Steve Schirripa) and Erin’s boss and nemesis Kimberly Crawford (Roslyn Ruff). And, then, of course, Joe Hill (Will Hochman) will be in and out as a family member and also a member of the NYPD. Also, back for family dinners will be Andrew Terraciano, who plays Danny’s younger son Sean, who is still at home, but getting close to going off to college.
Will Joe Hill return for season 13 of Blue Bloods?
Joe Hill’s appearance in the season 12 finale as part of a case but also turning up for family dinner was a definite indication that he will continue to weave in and out of stories in season 13. Not ready yet to become a series regular, Joe will be used auspiciously because of his family connection to the Reagans.

What happened at the end of Blue Bloods season 12?
Danny and Jamie joined forces with their nephew Joe Hill, when Jamie and Joe’s search for an undocumented trafficked teenage girl converged with Danny and Baez’s investigation in which a pregnant woman died in a bomb explosion. Miraculously, the baby was saved, and Baez later decided to adopt it. The combined teams also managed to track down the teenage girl, who was wearing a bomb, but Danny defused it. Then at family dinner, where Joe once again joined the family, there was also a new guest, Anthony Abetemarco (Steven Schirripa), and the reason he was invited was that Erin announced she will be running for District Attorney.
Are there any spoilers for Blue Bloods season 13?
It’s not exactly a spoiler since Erin Reagan announced at family dinner in the season 12 finale that she will be running for D.A., so we can expect to see the ramifications of what that means and if it will lead to a conflict with Frank. Showrunner Kevin Wade told Deadline, “A Season 13 would have two tracks for Erin. Doing the job she has, challenging herself, and being challenged about her fitness for the job she wants. And what she’s willing, and not willing, to do in order to get it. So, plenty of horse-trading, soul-searching, and disruption with the powers that be, her partner Anthony, and especially her family.”
