Of course, anyone who watched season 1 of My Unorthodox Life would not be surprised to learn that Haart made her Netflix show happen pretty much by sheer force of will. “Netflix and Jeff Jenkins [of Jeff Jenkins Productions] did not approach me, I approached Jeff,” Haart told Women’s Health in July 2021. “It was, I think, the most collaborative experience of my life getting to work with them.” Joining Haart on the show, called by some “the Kosher Kardashians,” are her current husband, Silvio Scaglia Haart (yep, he took her name!); her eldest daughter Batsheva (a “digital creator”) and her husband Ben; her son Shlomo (a recent Columbia University grad); her Stanford software engineering student daughter Miriam; and her youngest, Aaron, a teen who splits his time between Haart and her ex-husband, Yosef Hendler, who has been on the show as well. “He’s a lovely, kind, good man,” Haart has said about Hendler. “The misery I had in my marriage, I realize now… didn’t even have anything to do with him.” (Hendler remarried in August 2021.) Haart’s charming best friend and COO of Elite, Robert Brotherton, rounds out the cast. But not quite everything is coming up roses in Haart’s life. Even though she claims she still keeps a kosher kitchen and is still very much Jewish, her parents do not speak to her. She’s also the eldest of eight, but only one of her siblings still talks with her. “I just have hope,” Haart told Times of Israel about mending her family ties. “I keep on sending out love, and one day I’ll get some back.” Some Orthodox women have also taken issue with Haart’s characterization of conservative Jewish communities; former classmates point out the freedoms they have in the community she left, and Orthodox Jewish women trended #MyOrthodoxLife on social media to share their stories when My Unorthodox Life started streaming.  Still, Haart seems determined to use the show to help people who feel the way she once did. “There’s so many women who have been told they are less than, that they have to wait their turn, that they have to be polite,” she said during a September 2021 appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show. “And I thought, ‘Here’s a story about a crazy woman who picked herself up at 43 and changed everything about her life.’ I hope it gives courage and inspiration to others to do the same.” Whether you’re inspired most by Haart’s makeover, or you just can’t enough of her hilarious-yet-glamorous life, keep reading to find out everything we know about My Orthodox Life season 2.

When is My Unorthodox Life season 2 coming out?

Season 2 premieres on Netflix on Dec. 2. The first season debuted in July 2021 on Netflix after it was filmed in the early part of 2020.

What happened in My Unorthodox Life season 1?

The first season of My Unorthodox Life was all about Haart’s family as she and her four children continued to acclimate themselves to the world outside of the Orthodox Jewish community—specifically, the world of high fashion. Throughout the season, the family spent time at Haart’s apartment in Manhattan, went to the Hamptons and jetted off to Paris Fashion Week. Shlomo admitted he had never been kissed, despite being old enough to be in law school, while Batsheva and her husband Ben—themselves in an arranged marriage similar to the one Haart was in before leaving her old life behind—worked on keeping their marriage strong as Batsheva tried to make a name for herself as a blogger/influencer. They fought over Batsheva wearing pants and social media, but made up. Miriam, Haart’s youngest daughter, told the family that she was bisexual, and interned at Elite, working on the company’s app. The entire family went to Paris for fashion week, and Brotherton rented out a castle for them instead of a hotel. He spoke with Haart about the optics of hiring all three of her adult children at Elite. Brotherton shared that he hadn’t been in a relationship for four years and Haart advised him to put himself back on the market, even throwing him a funeral for his past self. In one of the season’s most touching storylines, he also looked for his birth mom after sharing that he was adopted—and met her.

Are there spoilers for season 2 of My Unorthodox Life?

Will she lose everything or gain more than she could ever imagine?  Within her family, Julia must find a way to reconnect with her daughter Batsheva, who is ending her nine-year marriage to Ben Weinstein, guide her daughter Miriam in her first committed relationship with a woman, and dissuade her son Aron who is determined to drop out of secular school to attend Orthodox yeshiva full-time.
