Tenant is described by TV Line as being “as diplomatic as she is hard-charging" and “a keen investigator who can navigate a crime scene and inter-bureau politics with equal aplomb. She’s also a single mother who often finds herself torn between running a family and running NCIS.” This is not Lachey’s first time in Hawai’i for a CBS project. She guest-starred in 2011 on an episode of Hawaii Five-0. Also joining Lachey in the NCIS: Hawai’i cast are Yasmine Al-Bustami and Jason Antoon. Al-Bustami will play the youthful, enthusiastic Lucy, a junior member of the team. According to Variety, Lucy is “eager to be the first one to find that key piece of evidence, create a workaround in the bureaucracy, or tackle a suspect down a flight of stairs.” Finally, Antoon has been cast as Cyber Intelligence specialist Ernie. According to Variety, Ernie is “a polyglot with a keen mind for technology, history, literature and all things Hawaiian. He’s an essential component of the team, who can trace an anonymous IP address or profile a suspect using only their social media footprint.” NCIS: Hawai’i will join the CBS schedule for 2021-2022, joining NCIS, which will return for its 19th season, and NCIS: Los Angeles, just renewed for its 13th season.
