All eight of Philip and Queen Elizabeth II’s grandchildren will talk about what their grandfather meant to them, as will their four children: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. The BBC said that the program was originally supposed to mark the Duke of Edinburgh’s 100th birthday, but the duke died aged 99 in April, two months short of experiencing a century of life. Harper’s Bazaar confirms that neither Duchess Katenor Duchess Meghanwill be appearing as part of the film. In a statement, the BBC said, “The documentary-makers have been inside Buckingham Palace to meet the Duke’s long-serving staff and to capture his study, private office and library, exactly as they were during his seven decades at the heart of royal life. “There are poignant recollections, plenty of humour and numerous fresh insights into the character and legacy of this royal pioneer. “With special access to the Queen’s private cine-film collection, this film is an unrivalled portrait of a man with a unique place in royal history—by those who knew him best.” Prince Philip: The Family Remembers airs in the UK on September 22 on BBC 1.
